Need Suggestions For A Good Study Of The Book Of Revelation

with 3 comments

I am looking for suggestions for a good study of the Book of Revelation for my adult Sunday School class.   Any format (book, audio, or video) will be considered.  Please leave the name of anything you might recommend in a comment.  A brief explanation as to why you like it would also be helpful.

Thanks for your help

  1. Tom,

Can’t give you the name of a specific study on Revelations..most all I have encountered cast different spins on the truth. When I starting teaching prophecy in my United Methodist Church at the age of 25 (now age 61)…I went immediately to my dad who had just completed teaching the book of Revelations in his Missionary Baptist Church where I grew up. I asked him to let me use his Bible in which he had made so many notes on the page margins. He dropped his head, sat thoughtfully for a time…raised his head, looked me in the eye, and said, “Carolyn, you will get understanding the same way I got it…or you won’t get it at all…. that way is ‘on your knees.’ I did that. The book of Revelations, Daniel, Ezekiel, Joel, Matthew, and others are closely linked. Wisdom comes from God and scripture indeed is spiritually discerned. When the Holy Spirit opens the truth to you…that truth usually isn’t found in most of the Revelations study series on the market. Lots of ‘doctrine’ out there but less TRUTH. But once that understanding comes….Revelations will be a piece of cake, there will be no contradiction with other scriptures, and you will know that you’ll never have to give account to God for false teaching.

Take some time…read Revelations as well as the major and miner prophets…block out all things you’ve been told by others concerning the meaning. Afterwards, you’ll be astounded at what you have discovered.

God Bless. I’ll be praying for you!

  2. “Because the Time is Near” by John MacArthur. It’s an abridged commentary, one book about 350 pages (his full commentary is three volumes). This one is good, straightforward, presented in sequence from beginning to end — includes the actual text of Revelation, then the commentary material about that passage.

  3. Hands down…the best resource of Revelation is a book titled: “666 The Mark of America, Seat of the Beast – Revelation Unfolded”.

It’s free to read online in a .pdf After reading it…you’ll pretty much know exactly what John was thinking when he came up with all of his riddles and allegory.

    Enjoy…I know I sure did.
